Four Seasons Fairways Unveils Plans for a Stunning €2m Clubhouse Refurbishment Including New Restaurant and new “Upside Down world” Kids Club
Interiors Inspired by Portuguese History and Culture
November 2017… / Earlier this year, Four Seasons Fairways (www.fourseasonsfairways.com) in Quinta Do Lago, Algarve, unveiled a complete renovation of 32 of its villas and this month announced the details of its €2m refurbishment project. The new interior design aesthetic showcases a contemporary and very much Portuguese style, inspired by the voyages of the 15th century Portuguese explorers and the natural beauty of the resort’s surroundings – taking the design credentials of the resort to a new level. Plans include a new fine-dining Portuguese restaurant, a brand-new glass walled wine cellar and indoor-outdoor bar plus a new outdoor cooking station for summer barbecues 20 new villa refurbishments and a new kids club “upside down world”, among much more.
For the villas, Four Seasons Fairways worked closely with the renowned Algarvian interior design firm, Quinta Style Boutique, whose previous projects include some of the area’s most prestigious high-end residential properties in Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago. With Quinta Style Boutique’s expertise, the overall design of the new villas at Four Seasons Fairways is that of a dream Portuguese home – combining the elegance and style of a luxury hotel with the creature comforts of a warm and inviting homestead. The same firm won the contract to design the club house refurbishment and the plans reveal some fantastic, thoughtful work.
Portugal’s history and cultural heritage provided a rich framework to work from when designing both the new villas and the clubhouse plans. During the 15th Century, some of the world’s greatest explorers from Prince Henry The Navigator to Vasco do Gama, discovered and mapped vast areas of the globe. The nautical and adventurous themes are seen throughout the new design of the new Four Seasons Fairways with the vast, whitewashed wooden walls framed by large windows that stream natural light into every corner of the interior space.
Further inspiration was taken by some of Portugal’s leading cultural figures from literary legend, Luís de Camões, to the voice of a nation, Amalia Rodrigues, a household name for decades because of her inimitable fado performances. Camões is considered by many as Portugal’s first poet, renowned for his body of work The Lusiadas (which describes Vasco da Gama’s discovery of the sea route to India). Lines from his work have been written on the walls of the villas in homage to him. The haunting sound of Fado is one that can be heard in every local café and bar in Portugal and is a proud part of its cultural identity and sound. These bursts of colour and soul are seen in the colour schemes of the bedrooms – giving the spaces real character.
Looking to the natural colours of the local environment, the bright blues of the sea, the sky and the typical azulejo of Portuguese pottery and tiles are present in the blue colour scheme in the Lounge and public seating area, providing a natural and calm yet contemporary atmosphere, creating a wonderful space to sit back and relax with families and friends.
The new contemporary restaurant is set to be an elegant, open space that serves up some of Portugal’s and the Algarve’s most delicious offerings in a modern and sophisticated setting. The newly refurbished bar will have a cool and sophisticated pool side atmosphere making it the perfect spot for a pre-or post-dinner tipple. All of this will contemplate the redesign of the existing Bistro which will continue to serve breakfast and offer all day dining, serving international and local dishes for all tastes.
Adding to the epicurean experiences, Four Seasons Fairways is incredibly excited to be creating a new glass walled wine cellar – a modern, minimalistic space which houses an impressive collection of Portugal’s best and understated wines in a temperature controlled environment. Wine tastings will be a new activity for guests to enjoy with the talented, in-house sommelier.
Families will love the new Upside Down World Kids Club, inspired by the boundless and wild imagination of children. Young guests will revel in the activities from using a climbing wall in the stars to sliding into a ball pool in a Fire Station surrounded by bright red fire engines and laughing at the tables and chairs on the ceiling! Childcare will also be available for children aged four months and upwards.
The resort’s boutique and golf pro-shop has also been redesigned to be a stylish retail outlet that stocks products of the best Golf brands and designers.
Open all year round, the extensive renovation of Four Seasons Fairways further elevates its position as one of the best and most exclusive resorts in the Algarve – designed for every type of traveller in mind, whether it be a multi-generational family holiday, new parents looking for a calm first holiday as a new family or couple’s looking for a golfing break, walking holiday or just to simply relax.
The resort will remain open while the work is taking place and Four Seasons Fairways is committed to providing winter season guests with a consistently high level of service that guests have become accustomed too. All necessary arrangements have been made to continue to offer all the services including dining options and leisure where possible but as an incentive and a thank you the resort is offering some fantastic discounted travel deals this winter.
