March 2017/…English sparkling wines have won nine trophies for Best International Sparkling Wine and six for Best Sparkling Rosé in global competitions in recent years so there’s no better time to experience them for yourself!
Best of England are staunch supporters of English wine and with areas of England under the vine on the increase, the team have forged strong relationships with around 20 vineyards across the South of England including the likes of Rathfinny, Bluebell, Bolney & Ridgeview.
Best of England are thrilled to be launching their Sussex based tours and plan to add Kent tours to their portfolio in May 2017 working with Gusbourne, Oxney and Hush Heath which are all superb.
What’s included: ‘Full Day Tour’, from £149pp. You’ll learn about the variety of grape up close and the history behind the vines, the wine producer and the story of Sussex wine. Learn about the production process from grape to bottle and some of the equipment involved along with the differences between Sussex wines and some of the international competitors before the all-important tastings.
The ‘Full Day Tour’ will offer guests a chance to visit Bolney & Ridgeview Estates before being treated to lunch at one of the best restaurants or gastro pubs in Sussex (options include The Salt Room, Brighton, The Griffin, Fletching, Jeremy’s, Hayward’s Heath or Pelham House, Lewes) where dishes might include slow braised belly of pork, Grange Farm partridge and marmalade pudding. Guests will then be taken to Rathfinny Vineyard for a tour/tasting and a ‘Tipsy Afternoon Tea’*.
A ‘Half Day Tour’ is also available from £49pp and will include a visit to one vineyard for a tour and tasting along with a traditional afternoon tea.
Best of England has negotiated special discounts with their vineyard partners when purchasing wine – you’ll even have the option for your purchases to be posted to you to save carrying bottles home! You’ll also not need to worry about transport, Best of England will arrange transfers from the train station and from one vineyard to another, taking the scenic route so you can enjoy some of the stunning countryside Sussex has to offer.
